Dorothea Röschmann

Born in Flensburg, Schleswig-Holstein. Röschmann studied at the Hamburg Hochschule für Musik und Theater, the Bremen Akademie für Alte Musik and in Los Angeles, New York, Tel Aviv and London. A member of the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin ensemble for many years and in 2016 was awarded the title of Kammersängerin. She has been a frequent guest at the Salzburg Festival since 1995 and performs regularly for other leading companies such as Vienna State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, La Scala, Milan, Bolshoi Theatre, Paris Opéra and Dresden Semperoper. She has sung with directors such as Sir Neville Marriner, Peter Neumann, Frieder Bernius, John Eliot Gardiner and Philippe Herreweghe. Röschmann is renowned as a distinguished Mozartian, she will soon venture in to pastures new with role debuts as Ariadne (Ariadne auf Naxos), Elisabeth (Tannhäuser) and Gluck’s Alceste. A renowned recitalist, she was acclaimed and awarded a Grammy in 2017 for her solo recital CD with Mitsuko Uchida.
