Astrig Siranossian, First Prizewinner of the Krzystof Penderecki International Cello Competition, and several times winner of the competition’s Special Prize, has performed as soloist with leading orchestras under conductors including Daniel Barenboim and Simon Rattle. Her musical partners include Martha Argerich, Yo-Yo Ma, Sol Gabetta, Bertrand Chamayou and Daniel Ottensamer. Her recent recording as soloist with the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra received high praise from the critics and was awarded the prestigious ‘Preis der Deutsche Schallplannte Kritic’, and ‘ffff’, the highest award from the French cultural magazine Télérama. She frequently performs on French, German, Belgian, Swiss, Italian and American television. In 2015 she was appointed Artistic Director of ‘Les Musicades’, a festival that combines music, art, and gastronomy. In 2019 she established an education programme to support young musicians in Armenia. Astrig Siranossian plays a Francesco Ruggieri cello from 1676.
