Jerusalem-born Gaby Shefler is Professor Emeritus of Clinical Psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and the Sigmund Freud Professor of Psychoanalysis at the Hebrew University. He is the Dean of the School for Advanced Studies at Achva Academic College. He studied piano with Rika Zarai, Tova Berlin-Papish and Professor Haim Alexander, and carillon with Professor Ephraim Delmont of Belgium, who in 1973 delivered a carillon training course at the Jerusalem YMCA. Gaby Shefler adapts Israeli songs and light classical music for carillon. He has performed on the Jerusalem YMCA carillon at the Israel Festival and Bach Festivals, and on carillons in France, Holland, Belgium and the USA. In 2018, the eighty-five-year-old Gillet and Johnston carillon at the YMCA was extensively restored and repaired.
