Daniel Barenboim

Pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim is one of the greatest musicians of our time. Born in Buenos Aires in 1942, he made his Argentinian debut as a pianist at the age of seven, and his international debut in Vienna at the age of ten. Regular concert tours of Europe, the US, South America, Australia, and Asia followed, as Barenboim was hailed a “phenomenon.” As a conductor, he has held major posts with leading orchestras and opera houses, including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Paris Orchestra, La Scala, and Berlin State Opera and Staatskapelle, where he served as long-time General Music Director. Barenboim is Co-founder of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra and the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin, which bring together young musicians from across the Middle East to foster dialogue through music. He has received seven Grammy Awards, seven honorary academic degrees, and more than thirty other honorary awards and titles.
