Born in Russia in 1986, Denis Kozhukhin studied piano from age five, first with his mother, then under Natalia Fish at the Balakirev School, and at the Reina Sofia School, Madrid, under Dimitri Bashkirov and Claudio Martinez-Mehner. He completed his studies with Kirill Gerstein, and at the Lake Como Piano Academy. In 2010 he won First Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition (Brussels). He has performed with major orchestras worldwide under leading conductors, and in 2018 made his debut at the London Proms. He has appeared in recitals at the Boulez Saal, Southbank Centre and Aix-en-Provence, Lille, Grand Teton, Lockenhaus, Schleswig-Holstein, Tivoli, Evian and Jūrmala festivals. This season he gave duo recitals with Janine Jansen at the Wigmore Hall, Concertgebouw, Suntory Hall and Seoul Arts Centre. In chamber music he has collaborated with artists including Widmann, Rachlin, Repin, Kovakos, Renaud and Gautier Capuçon, and the Jerusalem and Pavel Haas Quartets.
