Mor Biron

Mor Biron was a member of the Berlin Philharmonic from 2007 until 2021, and previously served as Principal Bassoonist in the Queen Sofía Palace of the Arts Opera Orchestra in Valencia. Born in Israel in 1982, he took up the cello before turning to the bassoon, which he studied with Gad Lederman and Maurizio Paez. He graduated from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and continued his studies at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin with Klaus Thunemann and Volker Tessmann. Biron has been a member of Ensemble Berlin-Prag, the Berlin Philharmonic Octet, and the Boulez Ensemble. He is a founding member of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under Daniel Barenboim, with whom he performs regularly. He taught for many years at the Karajan Academy in Berlin and the Barenboim-Said Foundation Academy of Orchestral Studies in Seville. He currently teaches at the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin.
