Israeli violinist Sharon Cohen has been a member of the first violin section of the Israel Philharmonic since 2012, and is a member of the Montefiore Ensemble, which she co-founded with Israel Philharmonic colleagues. She participates in various musical projects in Israel and Europe, and is a longtime member of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under Daniel Barenboim. Cohen is deeply committed to music education: she serves on the faculty of the Jerusalem Music Centre, where she mentors young violinists as part of the Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra programme, and she co-founded and headed the educational programmes of A Far Cry, a Boston-based chamber orchestra known for its collaborative model. She is a graduate of the New England Conservatory and the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.
