Israeli, Berlin-based horn player Bar Zemach began his career early, sitting next to his father in the horn section of the Israeli Opera. He participated in the Jerusalem Music Centre’s David Goldman Programme for Outstanding Young Musicians and the Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, and led the horn section of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie. He recently received a BA from the University of the Arts Berlin. Zemach has made solo debuts at the Berlin Philharmonie and Kozerthaus Berlin and has won several competitions, including the Grand Prix at the Nouvelle Étoiles International Competition in Paris. He has performed at prestigious festivals with the Pacific Quintet, Boulez Ensemble, Ensemble Modern, and others. He currently serves as First Horn in the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under Daniel Barenboim. Zemach is also known for fusing traditions and creating a distinctive artistic voice by bringing the shofar to the classical music stage.
