Born in Romania into a family of musicians, Razvan Popovici studied in France, Austria and Germany with Peter Langgartner, Jean Sulem, Wolfram Christ and Christoph Wyneken. He is the founder and director of the Chiemgauer Musicfrühling Festival in Germany, and director of the SoNoRo Festival in Bucharest. He was appointed Director of the Europalia Festival in Brussels. Razvan is a member of Ensemble Raro, regularly touring Europe, Japan and North America. As a soloist he has appeared in recitals and chamber ensembles in major venues throughout Europe, and in renowned festivals worldwide as a guest with leading orchestras and conductors. He has given masterclasses in Europe, Japan and South America, and teaches at the Villa Musica Foundation in Mainz. In 2023 he was appointed Professor of Viola at the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp.
