Born in Jerusalem, Nitzan Bartana received her first violin lesson at the age of five from her grandfather. She continued her studies with Yair Kless at the Tel Aviv Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, and at the Graz University of Music and Performing Arts, the Freiburg University of Music, and the Salzburg Mozarteum. She made her solo debut at the age of ten, and has subsequently performed with various orchestras, including the Israel Philharmonic, with which she played at Carnegie Hall, New York. Bartana is an active chamber musician who regularly performs in Israel, Europe, the US and Japan. She has received numerous awards and prizes. Her CD, Tears of the Muses, was released in 2021. She has been a member of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under Daniel Barenboim since 2008, was appointed Assistant Concertmaster of the Basel Symphony Orchestra in 2018, and was recently appointed Concertmaster of the Israel Philharmonic.
