Born in Tel Aviv, pianist Itamar Carmeli studied in Jerusalem at the Academy of Music and Dance under Daria Monastyrski, and the New York Mannes School of Music under Pavlina Dokovska. He is currently based in Berlin at the Barenboim-Said Akademie studying with Sir András Schiff. He received scholarships from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, and is a graduate of the Jerusalem Music Centre’s programme for gifted students. He has collaborated with artists such as violinists Michael Barenboim, Clara-Jumi Kang and Benjamin Schmidt, violist Zvi Carmeli, mezzo-soprano Eliraz Carmeli, cellists Thomas Demenga and Astrig Siranossian, and with orchestras under conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Cristian Macelaru and Finnegan Downie Dear. As a jazz pianist he received a scholarship for studies at the Berklee College of Music (USA), under Terry Lynn-Carrington. He has performed at the Red Sea Jazz Festival (Israel) and the Cambridge Jazz Festival (Massachusetts USA).
