Born in Spain in 1990, Cristina’s musical education began at the Conservatories of Linares, Jaén and Seville, the Academia de Estudios Orquestales of the Barenboim-Said Foundation, and at the Rostock Hochschule für Musik und Theatre. She was a prizewinner at the ARD International Music Competition and in 2013 was appointed Principal Oboe of the Staatskapelle Orchestra, under Daniel Barenboim. Since 2015 she has taught at the Künste Berlin University, and in 2023 she completed a three-year residency at the Dortmund Konzerthaus. In February 2022 Cristina’s debut album of concertos by Mozart and Strauss, released by Warner Classics, was widely acclaimed. In 2019 she gave debut recital concerts at Carnegie Hall and at the Pierre Boulez Saal with pianist Michail Lifits. Her performances in the 2023-4 season include solo concerts with leading orchestras including the BBC Scottish Symphony, Munich Chamber, Barcelona Symphony, the Helsinki Philharmonic and the West-Eastern Divan orchestras.
