Mor Biron was a member of the renowned Berliner Philharmoniker from 2007-2021, and previously served as First Bassoon at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía Opera House in Valencia. He played the cello before taking bassoon lessons with Gad Lederman and Maurizio Paez. Biron earned a BA from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and completed his studies at the Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’ Berlin with Professors Klaus Thunemann and Volker Tessmann. He was an America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarship recipient, and an Aviv Competition winner. Biron is a founding member of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra under Daniel Barenboim, and has performed with ensembles including Ensemble Berlin-Prag, the Philharmonisches Oktett Berlin and the Boulez Ensemble. He gives masterclasses worldwide, was a longtime instructor at the Karajan Academy, and currently leads the Bassoon Department at the Barenboim-Said Academy in Berlin.
