Bar Zemach is an Israeli horn player based in Berlin. He made his debut as a soloist in Germany in the Berlin Philharmonie and in the Konzerthaus Berlin. He is a former member of the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, and currently Principal Horn with the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. He participated in the Staatskapelle Berlin’s recording of the complete chamber music for wind instruments by Richard Strauss. Bar frequently plays chamber music and new music with the Boulez Ensemble, Ensemble Moderne and the Pacific Quintet, and will soon join the Giora Feidman Klezmer Virtuos quartet. This is his second year participating in the Jerusalem Chamber Music Festival. Bar is passionate about playing the Shofar (the Ram’s Horn), as a bona fide classical instrument. Next year he will premiere a new concerto for Shofar and Orchestra with the Berlin Philharmonie. Bar is currently a Britten-Pears Young Artist for 2024-2025.
