Yulianna Avdeeva began studying piano at age five at the Gnessin Music School in Moscow under Elena Ivanova, and later studied with Vladimir Tropp, Konstantin Scherbakov, Dmitri Bashkirov, William Grant Nabore and Fou Ts’ong. After winning First Prize at the 2010 Chopin Piano Competition, she launched her international career. She has performed with major orchestras, including the Chicago Symphony, Tokyo’s NHK Orchestra, RAI Italian Radio Orchestra, Barcelona Symphony Orchestra and others. In 2024-2025, she performed at the Shostakovich Festival with the Gewandhaus Orchestra in partnership with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, in Berlin, Barcelona, Madrid, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, and gave chamber music performances with members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Gidon Kremer, Kremerata Baltica, Julia Fischer and Daniel Müller-Schott. She has released many albums, including, most recently, a recording of Shostakovich’s Preludes and Fugues.
