Mihaela Martin began violin studies with her father in her native Bucharest, and went on to win national and international competitions, including the Tchaikovsky, Montreal, and Queen Elisabeth Competitions. Equally at home as a soloist and chamber musician, Martin has performed with the BBC Symphony, Royal Philharmonic, Montreal Symphony, Salzburg Mozarteum, and Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestras, and has collaborated with Kurt Masur, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Martha Argerich, Radu Lupu, Leon Fleisher, and Menahem Pressler. She has participated in the Verbier, Enescu, Budapest Academy, Kronberg, and Ravinia Festivals, and has performed in Carnegie Hall, Pierre Boulez Hall in Berlin, Wigmore Hall, the Concertgebouw, and Champs Élysée Theater as a member of the Michelangelo String Quartet. Martin serves as Artistic Director of the Rolandseck Festival and is Professor at the Cologne University of Music and Barenboim-Said and Kronberg Academies. She plays a c. 1748 Guadagnini violin.
