Jerusalem-born Uri Dror studied violin under Shmuel Bernstein and Haim Taub, and participated in the Jerusalem Music Centre’s programme for outstanding young musicians. After IDF service (as an outstanding young musician) he continued at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance supported by the America-Israel Cultural Foundation. In 1990 he founded the Amber Trio Jerusalem studying at the Vienna Music Academy with the Alban Berg Quartet. The Trio performed in major concert halls including the Konzerthaus (Vienna), Rudolfinum (Prague), Brucknerhaus (Linz) and festivals in Europe and America. In Vienna they served as ensemble-in-residence of the Vienna Jewish Museum. In 2004 Uri returned to Israel, continued to perform with the Trio and began to engage in music administration and education. He served as Music Director of the MATAN Youth Culture and Art Enterprises, and holds senior management positions directing programmes and concert series, including the International Jerusalem Chamber Music Series.
