Ron Selka

Born in Israel, Ron Selka studied with Eli Heifetz, graduating from Indiana University, Bloomington under Eli Eban and James Campbell. He is a prizewinner of both the Coleman and Fischoff Chamber Music Competitions (USA). From 1994-2001 he played with the Israel Opera Orchestra and since 2001 has served as Principal Clarinet of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. As soloist, he has performed with the IPO under Zubin Mehta and the Jerusalem Symphony, Israel Opera and IDF Chamber orchestras, and at the Israel Festival, Kfar Blum, and the Pro Festival (Germany). Since 2014 Ron has been Guest Principal Clarinet of the Korean Broadcasting Orchestra. Recital and chamber music performances include in Europe, the USA, South Korea and Israel with artists including Gil Shaham, Maxim Vengerov, Aviram Reichert and the Carmel Quartet. He has broadcast in Israel, Europe and the USA and has given masterclasses at Indiana University, Seoul National University, Buenos Aires and others. Ron is a Buffet Crampon artist and plays R13 Prestige and Festival clarinets.

With deepest regret, we announce that this year’s Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival, which was due to take place from 31 August to 4 September, has been cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions. Sadly, it is not possible for us to welcome the artists in compliance with the current quarantine regulations and for the first time in our twenty-four year history we are obliged to cancel the Festival.

We know how painful this is for the artists who are now unable to perform, for our audiences who were looking forward so much to this Festival, and for us, the Festival team who were working so hard to realise these wonderful concerts despite the ongoing health crisis. 
We look forward very much to seeing you all next year, our dear musicians and audiences.
