Omar Farjoun Bishara began studying double bass in Valencia (Spain) with Mercé Font, and later in Jerusalem with Eran Borovich. He began his bachelor studies at the Barenboim-Said Akademie under Nabil Shehata, continuing with Gunars Upatnieks, and performed in the Akademie Symphony Orchestra under Daniel Barenboim. From 2017 to 2021 he was Principal Bass of the Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, playing under Lahav Shani and other leading conductors. In 2021 he played and recorded the Vanhal Double Bass Concerto with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra. He continues to play with the JSO as a guest player, under conductors including Frédric Chaslin and Steven Sloane. Omar collaborates regularly with the Barenboim-Said Foundation (Ramallah) and the Filasteen Young Musicians Orchestra, which has included coaching young musicians in chamber music.
