Mischa Maisky

Born in Latvia, educated in Russia, repatriated to Israel, Mischa Maisky has performed at most leading international venues. He considers himself a citizen of the world: ‘I play an Italian cello, with French bows, Austrian and German strings, my daughter was born in Paris, my older son in Brussels and my younger one in Italy, I drive a Japanese car, wear a Swiss watch, an Indian necklace and I feel at home everywhere where people appreciate and enjoy classical music.’ An exclusive DG artist, his numerous recordings include with the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony, Israel Philharmonic and Orchestre de Paris, winning such awards as Diapason d’Or and Grammy nominations. He has collaborated with conductors including Leonard Bernstein, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, James Levine and Daniel Barenboim, performing chamber music with Martha Argerich, Radu Lupu, Gidon Kremer, Yuri Bashmet, Vadim Repin, Maxim Vengerov and many other collaborations.
