Michael Barenboim

Michael Barenboim celebrates a long collaboration with the late Pierre Boulez, whose works he regularly performs with the Boulez Ensemble. Recent highlights include debuts with the Berlin Philharmonic under Petrenko, the Vienna Philharmonic (Daniel Barenboim), Chicago Symphony (Fisch) and IPO (Mehta). He also toured with the IPO under Noseda, performing the Bruch, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev concertos. The current season includes debuts with the Los Angeles Philharmonic (Dudamel) and Royal Liverpool Philharmonic orchestras. Together with his father Daniel Barenboim and cellist Kian Soltani he performed Mozart and Beethoven piano trios at the Salzburg Festival. Michael is a founding member of the Erlenbusch Quartet and regularly collaborates with his mother Elena Bashkirova. He is also Concertmaster of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra and is deeply involved in educational activities. He is Head of Chamber Music at the Barenboim-Said Academy and gives international masterclasses.

With deepest regret, we announce that this year’s Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival, which was due to take place from 31 August to 4 September, has been cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions. Sadly, it is not possible for us to welcome the artists in compliance with the current quarantine regulations and for the first time in our twenty-four year history we are obliged to cancel the Festival.

We know how painful this is for the artists who are now unable to perform, for our audiences who were looking forward so much to this Festival, and for us, the Festival team who were working so hard to realise these wonderful concerts despite the ongoing health crisis.
We look forward very much to seeing you all next year, our dear musicians and audiences.
