Michael Barenboim celebrated a long collaboration with the late Pierre Boulez, whose works he regularly performs with the Boulez Ensemble. Barenboim has performed Schoenberg’s Violin Concerto with major orchestras. Recent highlights include debuts with the Berlin Philharmonic under Petrenko, the Vienna Philharmonic (Daniel Barenboim), Chicago Symphony (Fisch) and IPO (Mehta). He also toured with the IPO under Noseda, performing the Bruch, Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev concertos. Together with his father Daniel Barenboim and cellist Kian Soltani he played Mozart and Beethoven piano trios at the Salzburg Festival. Michael is a founding member of the Erlenbusch Quartet and regularly collaborates with his mother Elena Bashkirova. He is also Concertmaster of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. Deeply involved in educational activities, he gives international masterclasses. He is Professor of Violin and Chamber Music at the Barenboim-Said Akademie in Berlin, and since 2020 served as Dean of the Akademie.
