Born in Istanbul, Israel Kastoriano studied piano and conducting at the Jerusalem Rubin Academy and New York Mannes College, graduating with the highest honours. In the USA he has appeared at the Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, performed solo recitals and chamber music concerts for radio and television, won first prize at the Tanglewood Festival and was a finalist in the Bolzano Piano Competition (Italy). As pianist with the IPO he regularly tours with the orchestra, has collaborated with conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Leonard Bernstein and Kurt Masur, and with leading members of the orchestra. Israel performs piano four hands with Anat Sharon and is a member of the Opus 3 Tango Ensemble. He has participated in the Kfar Blum and Schleswig Holstein festivals.
