Ishay Shaer

Ishay Shaer is considered one of the leading pianists of his generation. Past performances include recitals at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Tonhalle Zürich, Warsaw Philharmonic Hall and Sala São Paulo. He has performed as a soloist with prestigious international orchestras and in Israel including the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. As a chamber music player, he has collaborated with prominent artists such as Mischa Maisky and Antje Weithaas.

Shaer began his piano studies with Hanna Barzilai and later studied with Profs. Asaf Zohar, Tomer Lev and Arie Vardi at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music. He was also instructed by Daniel Barenboim, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Murray Perahia amongst others.

In 2017, Shaer released a critically acclaimed album of Beethoven’s late works (Orchid Classics) which has been broadcast on radio stations including BBC Radio 3, France Musique and WQXR, and was described by Codalario Magazine as ‘an essential recording on the shelf of any music lover.

With deepest regret, we announce that this year’s Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival, which was due to take place from 31 August to 4 September, has been cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions. Sadly, it is not possible for us to welcome the artists in compliance with the current quarantine regulations and for the first time in our twenty-four year history we are obliged to cancel the Festival.

We know how painful this is for the artists who are now unable to perform, for our audiences who were looking forward so much to this Festival, and for us, the Festival team who were working so hard to realise these wonderful concerts despite the ongoing health crisis. 
We look forward very much to seeing you all next year, our dear musicians and audiences.
