German-born Friedemann Eichhorn studied violin with Valery Gradow at the Mannheim University, with Alberto Lysy at the Menuhin Academy in Gstaad and with Margaret Pardee at the Juilliard School, New York. He also was awarded a Ph.D. in musicology from the University of Mainz. As a soloist and chamber musician he has collaborated with Gidon Kremer, Yuri Bashmet, Christoph Eschenbach, Fazil Say, Yehudi Menuhin and many others. His discography, on various labels, includes premiere recordings of the thirteen violin concertos by Pierre Rode. Friedemann edits violin works for Henle and Schott publishers and heads the violin department at the Franz Liszt University of Music (Weimar). He is Artistic Director of the Kronberg Academy and of the Kronberg Academy Festival.
