Daniel Mazaki

Born in Rehovot, Daniel Mazaki began bassoon studies at the age of five with Aliza Avni, continuing with Maurizio Paez. A graduate of the Thelma Yellin High School, he served in the IDF as an Outstanding Musician, and continued his music studies in Germany at the Hanover School of Music under Professor Dag Jensen. He received scholarship support from the America-Israel Cultural Foundation. Daniel’s orchestral experience was as a member of the Young Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra performing at the Pacific Music Festival and the Schleswig Holstein Festival under conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Valery Gergiev, Christoph Eschenbach and Zubin Mehta. He has performed as a soloist with the IPO, the Israel Camerata and the IDF Chamber Orchestra. He served as Principal Bassoon with the Orchestre Nationale Bordeaux Aquitaine and the Cologne Gürzenich Opera Orchestra. Currently he is Principal Bassoon of the IPO.

With deepest regret, we announce that this year’s Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival, which was due to take place from 31 August to 4 September, has been cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions. Sadly, it is not possible for us to welcome the artists in compliance with the current quarantine regulations and for the first time in our twenty-four year history we are obliged to cancel the Festival.

We know how painful this is for the artists who are now unable to perform, for our audiences who were looking forward so much to this Festival, and for us, the Festival team who were working so hard to realise these wonderful concerts despite the ongoing health crisis. 
We look forward very much to seeing you all next year, our dear musicians and audiences.
