Clara-Jumi Kang

Winner of the 2010 Indianapolis International Violin Competition, Clara-Jumi Kang has carved out an international career. Other accolades include first prizes at the Seoul Violin Competition (2009) and the Sendal Violin Competition (2010). She has recorded for Decca and Accentus, and her complete Beethoven Violin Sonatas has been nominated for 2022 OPUS award. She has performed with orchestras including the Rotterdam Philharmonic, Kremerata Baltica, Orchestre National de Belgique, BBC Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Atlanta, New Jersey, Indianapolis and Santa Fe Symphony orchestras, Mariinsky, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony, New Japan Philharmonic, Hong Sinfonietta, Seoul Philharmonic, NCPA Beijing and Taipei Symphony orchestras. Born in Germany, she studied with Zakhar Bron, Dorothy Delay, Nam Yun Kim and Christoph Poppen. She plays the ‘Ex-Thunis’ 1702 Stradivarius violin.
