Winner of the 2010 Indianapolis Violin Competition, Clara-Jumi Kang has carved out an international career performing with leading orchestras and conductors across Asia and Europe. Other accolades include first prizes at the Seoul Violin Competition (2009) and the Sendal Violin Competition (2010). She has performed with leading orchestras including the Leipzig Gewandhaus, Cologne Chamber, Kremerata Baltica, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Orchestre National de Belgique and Orchestre de la Suisse Romande. In the USA highlights have included performances with the Atlanta, New Jersey, Indianapolis and Santa Fe Symphony orchestras. Elsewhere she has appeared with the Mariinsky, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony, New Japan Philharmonic, Hong Sinfonietta, Seoul Philharmonic, NCPA Beijing and Taipei Symphony orchestras. She studied with Valerie Gradov, Zakhar Bron, Dorothy Delay, Nam Un Kim and Christoph Poppen. She plays the ‘ex-Strauss’ 1708 Stradivarius violin, loaned by the Samsung Cultural Foundation Korea.
