Born in Novosibirsk, Anton Barakhovsky studied violin under Matvej Liberman from age five, appearing as a soloist at age six with the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Arnold Katz. He studied under Mark Lubotsky and Kolja Blacher at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg and continued under Dorothy DeLay at Juilliard. He has served as Concertmaster of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra and is currently Concertmaster of the Hamburg State Philharmonic Orchestra. He has performed as soloist under Wolfgang Sawallisch, Mariss Jansons and Daniel Harding. His recording of piano quartets by Brahms and Mahler with Eldar Nebolsin, Alexander Zemtsov and Wolfgang Schmidt was released on the Naxos label in 2016.
