Born in Russia, Anna Samuil studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Moscow), graduating with honours in 2003. She has been a soloist at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin since 2004. Awards include prizes at the Tchaikovsky and Glinka Competitions (Russia) and competitions in Italy, Estonia and Germany. She has performed at La Scala (Milan), State Operas in Munich, Dresden, Hamburg, and opera houses in New York, Valencia, Lyon, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Pittsburg, Baltimore and Luxembourg, under conductors including Barenboim, Mehta, Marriner, Maazel, Pappano and Dudamel. She has participated in festivals at Salzburg, Aix-en-Provence, Edinburgh, Glyndebourne, Verbier, Verona and Florence. Her roles include Violetta, Donna Anna, Fiordiligi, Tatiana, Mimi, Elisabetta, Alice Ford, Micaela and Rosalinde. She has performed in orchestral concerts and given recitals at prestigious venues in major European cities. In 2008, Anna Samuil received the ‘Daphne’ Audience Award of the Berlin TheaterGemeinde for her outstanding vocal and acting performances.
