Zeynep Köylüoglu – Bassoon

Born in Ankara in 1986, Zeynep Köylüoglu began bassoon studies in 2002 at the Izmir State Conservatory, continuing at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Hanover under Professor Dag Jensen. She has participated regularly in projects with the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra, and was a member of the Mozart Orchestra, directed by Claudio Abbado. In 2009 and 2010 she studied at the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra Academy. She won 1st Prize at the Hülsta International Woodwind Competition (2008), and 3rd Prize at the Prague Spring International Music Competition (2009) where she was also awarded the prize for best performance of a new work. Since 2010 she has been Assistant First Bassoon of the Deutsche Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Saarbrücken. She has been a member of the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra since 2009.
