Nir Comforty – Double Bass

Nir Comforty has been Assistant Principal Bass of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra since 2004, and a faculty member at the Tel Aviv University Buchman-Mehta School of Music since 2005. He studied conducting under Mendi Rodan at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, and continued his bass studies in Germany under Günter Klaus and Stephan Petzold, graduating from the Hanns Eisler Music Academy, Berlin. While a student in Berlin he played regularly with the Berlin Symphony, the Deutsche Symphony and Staatskapelle Berlin orchestras. He has participated in music festivals including Verbier (Switzerland), Voice of Music Upper Galilee (Israel) and Jerusalem Chamber Music festivals, and has toured with various orchestras to Europe, North and South America and Asia
