Michelangelo String Quartet

The Michelangelo Quartet was formed in 2002 by musicians all with distinguished careers as soloists, chamber musicians and teachers. Mihaela Martin from Romania, Russian-born Daniel Austrich, Japanese-born Nobuko Imai and Frans Helmerson from Sweden, have individually won many prizes in major international competitions, and have collaborated with artists including Martha Argerich, Yuri Bashmet, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Itzhak Perlman and Sir András Schiff. They perform regularly in Europe and Japan in prestigious halls such as the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), Théâtre des Champs Elysées (Paris), and the Tonhalle (Zürich), and at festivals including Edinburgh, Kuhmo (Finland), Delft, New Zealand, and the Pablo Casals Festival. Other projects have included a complete Beethoven cycle in Perth (Scotland) and in Japan, and a Brahms and Zemlinsky recording with clarinettist Emma Johnson.
