Lidia Baich – Violin

Austrian violinist Lidia Baich was born in St. Petersburg. She began violin studies at the age of 4 and continued in Vienna with Prof. Boris Kuschnir. Lida Baich has performed in Europe, Asia, South Africa and North and South America as a recitalist, and as a soloist with leading orchestras and conductors. As a chamber musician she has appeared at prestigious festivals including Salzburg, Vienna, Dubrovnik and Johannesburg. In 2008 she released her first CD featuring the Mendelssohn and Prokofiev concertos on the Deutsche Grammophon label, followed in 2011 by a CD called ‘Violin in Motion’. This was followed by another CD/DVD of ‘Violin in Motion’ with pianist Matthias Fletzberger featuring their own arrangements of symphonic ballet music. Since 2014 she has been teaching at the University of Music and Arts, Vienna.  Lidia Baich plays a Joseph Guarnerius de Gesu ‘ex-Guilet’ violin made in 1732.
