Krzysztof Chorzelski – viola
Warsaw-born Krzysztof Chorzelski enjoys a diverse career as violist of the Belcea Quartet, as chamber musician and soloist, and as professor at the London Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He studied with Grigori Zhislin and Felix Andrievsky at the London Royal College of Music. In 1992 he won the Wronski Violin Competition (Warsaw). In 1996 he joined the Belcea Quartet which performs regularly at major concert venues including the Konzerthaus (Vienna), Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center (New York), and the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam). He has performed as guest musician with the Ysaÿe, Pavel Haas, Jerusalem and Skampa quartets, and with soloists Stephen Kovacevich, Piotr Anderszewski and Natalie Clein. Krzysztof Chorzelski has commissioned new works for the viola by composers including Paweł Szymański and Joseph Phibbs. His debut solo recital recording with Katya Apekisheva was released in 2012.
