Edgar Moreau – cello

Born in Paris, Edgar Moreau began playing cello at age four and piano at six. He studied with Philippe Muller in Paris and Frans Helmerson in Germany, and took masterclasses with Gary Hoffman, Lynn Harrell and David Geringas. He has received numerous awards including the Rostropovich Competition (2009), Tchaikovsky Competition (2011), Academie Maurice Ravel Prize (2011), Victoires de la Musique Classique (2013 and 2015) and Young Concert Artists International Audition (2014). Edgar Moreau made his orchestral debut at age eleven with the Teatro Regio Orchestra, Turin, and has performed as a soloist with leading orchestras and conductors in Europe and Asia. A dedicated chamber musician he has played with the Talich, Prazak, Modigliani and Ébène quartets, and has given recitals with his pianist Pierre-Yves Hodique. Highlights this season include Beethoven Triple Concerto with Renaud Capuçon and Khatia Buniatishvili, and festival appearances in Germany, France and Switzerland.
