Daishin Kashimoto – Violin

A Japanese national born in 1979 in London, Daishin Kashimoto began violin studies under Kumiko Eto at the age of 3, continuing in New York under Naoko Tanaka at the Juilliard School of Music. He completed his studies in Germany under Zakhar Bron and Rainer Kussmaul. He has won 1st Prize in major competitions, including the Menuhin Junior (England 1993), Cologne (1994), Kreisler (Vienna 1996) and Long-Thibaud (Paris 1996).  He has given recitals and solo performances in venues in Europe, Asia and USA and has performed concertos with orchestras including the Czech Philharmonic, Frankfurt Radio Symphony, Bayerischen Radio Symphony, and NHK Symphony under renowned conductors such as Ozawa, Maazel, Temirkanov, Rattle, Pletnev, Jansons, Menuhin, Chung, Janowski, and Dutoit. In chamber music Kashimoto has collaborated with Itamar Golan, Bashmet, Maisky, Argerich, Chung, Lesage, Pahud, Bronfman and many others. In 2009 he was appointed Concertmaster of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
