Asi Matathias – Violin

Asi Matathias, a protégé of Pinchas Zukerman, made his debut with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Zubin Mehta, at the age of 14. Since then he has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras under conductors such as Frederic Chaslin, Leon Botstein, Eduard Topchjan and the late Mendi Rodan. An enthusiastic chamber musician he has collaborated with artists such as Nikolaj Znaider, Kirill Gerstein and Christian Altenburger, and performed in international festivals such as the Vienna Bezirk Wochen Festspiele, Prussia Cove and the Israel Festival. He has recorded for the BBC, CBC, WQXR, IBA and ORF radio stations, and performed in prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium and Zankel Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie, 92Y in New York, Izumy Hall (Japan) and the National Arts Center of Canada.
