Annie Dutoit – speaker

Annie Dutoit, born in Switzerland to a family of musicians, studied classical languages. She has degrees in comparative literature (Princeton University), journalism (New York University) and in French and romance philology (Columbia University). Her Ph.D. dissertation focused on the interaction between politics and aesthetics in anti-Semitic writings in France. She has taught at various American universities, and given talks at international conferences on topics encompassing fascist aesthetics, avant-garde fascism, and history and memory. She has participated in outreach activities and performances to raise awareness about the Holocaust. Annie Dutoit has also pursued a career in the performing arts, as actor and producer. She has performed works by Milhaud, Liszt, Saint-Saens, Stravinsky and Cage, integrating text, performance and music, in international venues and festivals, and in Tokyo, Rome, Paris and Brussels. This year she directed and performed in ‘Kindertransport’ by Diane Samuels.
