Albena Danailova – Violin

Albena Danailova was born into a musical Bulgarian family. In Sofia she studied with Nely Jeleva and Dora Ivanova. In 1995 she moved to Germany, studying at the Rostock Music Academy and Hamburg School of Music with Petru Munteanu. Masterclasses with Ida Hendel, Herman Krebbers, Luis Kaplan, Andreas Reiner and Stefan Georgiu completed her musical education. In 2001 she graduated and became a member of the Bayerisches Staatsorchester, advancing to become concertmistress of the orchestra. Currently she is concertmistress of the Vienna Staatsoper and the Vienna Philharmonic orchestras. As soloist and chamber musician she has appeared at festivals in Bulgaria, Germany, Israel and the USA. She has performed with orchestras including the Mozart Hamburg, NDR Symphony, Sofia Soloists and Sofia Philharmonic orchestras. Albena Danailova has recorded and broadcast on German and Bulgarian television and radio. She plays a 1709 Stradivarius ex-Haemmerle violin, loaned by the Austria National Bank.
