Adrien La Marca – viola
French violist Adrien La Marca studied under Jean Sulem at the Paris Conservatoire, winning First Prize at the French National Young Violists Competition. After receiving his Master’s degree he studied in Leipzig with Tatjana Masurenko, and in Berlin with Tabea Zimmerman. Other teachers include Nobuko Imai, Kim Kashkashian, Hatto Beyerle and Yuri Bashmet. He performs and participates regularly at concert venues and festivals throughout Europe. Chamber music partners include Alina Ibragimova, Renaud Capuçon, Frank Braley, Nicholas Angelich, Edgar Moreau, Michel Portal, and the Ebène and Modigliani quartets. He makes his Japanese debut this season with a recital in Tokyo. In 2010 he was a laureate in the ‘Spedidam Generation’ Competition, and finalist in the International Brahms Competition (Austria). In 2012 he won prizes at the Lionel Tertis, the William Primrose, and ‘Avant-Scènes’ (Paris) competitions. His first album with pianist Thomas Hoppe was released this year.
