Israeli contralto Noa Frenkel studied at the Tel Aviv Music Academy and the Royal Conservatory, The Hague. She made her debut at the Salzburg Festival as Woman in Zaïde/ Adama by Mozart/Czernowin. Other roles include Frau Ocholowska in Kalitzke's Die Besessenen (Vienna), Third Lady in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (Nantes), Madam Flora in Menotti's The Medium (Rotterdam), Banchieri's La Barca (Nationale Reisopera, The Hague), Shu Hai and Pnima by Israeli composer Chaya Czernowin, Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde with the Mulhouse Symphony Orchestra, Stockhausen's Sontag aus Licht with Opera Köln, and Mahler's 2nd symphony with the Israel Symphony Orchestra. An enthusiastic interpreter of contemporary music, she has sung in Shapira's Kastner's Trial, Philip Glass's Achnaton, and Luigi Nono's Prometeo at venues throughout Europe. She performs regularly with Ensemble Modern, Israeli Contemporary Players, Asko/Schönberg Ensemble, Ensemble Intercontemporain and the Maarten Altena Ensemble, with whom she has recorded several CDs.
