
Robert Holl
Bass
Robert Holl was born in Rotterdam and studied in the Netherlands and later with Hans Hotter in Munich where he won First Prize at the International Music Competition of ARD. After many years of singing Lieder and giving recitals, he is now also a distinguished opera singer, in demand at major international opera houses, particularly in Wagnerian roles. His concert repertoire focuses on German and Russian composers with piano partners including Oleg Maisenberg, Daniel Barenboim and András Schiff. He has worked with conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez and Riccardo Chailly. Robert Holl’s many honours include the prestigious Austrian title of Kammersänger (1990) and the Austrian Cross of Honour for Scholarship and Art (2005). He is Professor of Lied and Oratorio at the University for Music in Vienna and also composes Lieder. His broad repertoire is documented by numerous radio, TV and CD recordings.
